Travel stress-free with your pet in Qatar by following these essential tips.
Prepare Essential Documents
- Your ID or Passport: Always have a copy with you for verification.
- Pet’s Health Certificate: Issued within two weeks before your expected arrival in Qatar.
- Vaccination Records: Dogs need shots for things like hepatitis and parvovirus. Cats need vaccines like panleukopenia.
Import Permit (as per Oct 2022)
- Select user login type to “Health Certificate Service”, then enter the required details and click on “Login”.
- Fill out the online form entering all the required information.
- Attach the following documents:
- Copy of vaccination card of dog or cat
- Copy of antibody test for rabies from internationally accredited laboratories
- Copy of Qatari health card in case of return of dog or cat residing in the country
- Click on “Send”.
- Visit the Customer Service Office at the competent municipality or a government services complex.
- Provide original and copy of QID of customer and applicant.
- Submit other above-mentioned documents.
- Sign on terms and conditions of the service.
Microchipping
- Cats and dogs need to be microchipped with all details recorded, like date and number.
Choose Pet-Friendly Airlines
- Airlines that accommodate pets make the journey smoother.
No Quarantine, but…
- There’s no official quarantine, but pets are placed in a special facility at Doha International Airport before clearing customs.
Pack Smart
- Travel essentials like food, water, and a pet first-aid kit are a must.
Upon Arrival
- Go through customs and any additional inspections or protocols.

Age and Vaccination Restrictions
Pets need to be at least 4 months old to be imported, as they need to be old enough to be vaccinated for rabies.
